Josh Steele, aka Flux Pavilion, kicked off his 13-date headline “Standing On A Hill” tour in Cardiff last night. Check out a bit of background on the man and pick up tickets from Ticketmaster or Livenation to go to what should be a huge event.

He was one of the founding members of Circus Records along with Doctor P, the legendary DJ Swan-e, and Earl Falconer of UB40. Since then Flux Pavilion has developed his own individual dubstep-orientated sound and had great recent success making the BBC’s Sound of 2012 list and the B list at Radio 1 with ‘Daydreamer feat. Example.

Perhaps his most famous track “I Can’t Stop” has received 23 million views on the YouTube channel UKFDubstep who lead the way in exposing dubstep talent to the masses. The track was sampled by producer Shama Joseph on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’ collaboration, and also used in the KONY 2012 viral campaign, suggesting he easily has a place in the big leagues. His other earlier major release “Bass Cannon” peaked at number 56 in the charts and earned his a place on the Radio 1 A-list for a time.

He’s recently been growing his fan base abroad with packed shows at SXSW, Ultra and Coachella festivals, and his first return to the UK after his last tour success should make this a huge event on the music calendar. Also, with the increase in dubstep popularity in the mainstream genres it gives young producers like Flux Pavilion a chance to step up and get noticed, so this is well worth a ticket to guarantee you a huge night for students with dubstep and big tunes. StArt Mag will be there reviewing the gig at Manchester on the 12th!
